Installation & design

Ductwork Installation

Refrigerant lines installation

Refrigerant lines installation

Hands-on experience installing, fabricating, and modifying ductwork systems in both duct board and sheet metal, including custom runs, offsets, transitions, T-connections, 90° and 45° elbows, reducers, end caps, and other fittings. Skilled in efficient fiberglass duct board cutting and grooving methods using specialized cutters, and four-piece construction techniques.

Experienced in all phases of copper line installation, including layout and support, hanger positioning, brazing with nitrogen purge, Armaflex insulation, pressure testing, and leak verification. After confirming system integrity, I can perform evacuation procedures, verify vacuum hold, and prepare the system for proper refrigerant charging in accordance with OEM specifications

Mechanical drawings reading

Refrigerant lines installation

Mechanical drawings reading

Being able to understand and locate different HVAC components, abbreviations, and symbols attending to the details provided in the plan notes and schedules for installation is what allows me to discuss alternatives when inevitable problems arise as well as making sure that my work complies with specs, codes, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards.

Ductwork design

HVAC equipment retrofit installs

Mechanical drawings reading

Installing ductwork is one thing; truly understanding the reasoning behind the measurements and lengths is another. This expertise has proven valuable when evaluating options during change orders or branch rerouting. It does not require an engineer to work this out, but it does require someone with a solid technical foundation in the subject.

Material take-off

By combining strong, mechanical drawing reading skills with hands-on ductwork installation experience, I can accurately scope a project in advance and procure the materials and parts required to meet project deadlines.

I have proven experience in commercial retrofit projects involving change-outs of rooftop packaged units and VRF split systems. My work has included the full scope of the process: from refrigerant recovery and EPA documentation for proper disposal of the old unit to installation, start-up, operational fine-tuning, final reporting, and customer sign-off.

Dedicated HVAC electrical work

Dedicated HVAC electrical work

When performing a commercial retrofit, close attention must be paid to the dimensions of the existing equipment's curb-to-roof adapter to ensure a proper fit for the new unit. In many cases field conditions don't allow for a match though. Fortunately, I know how to lay out these parts and submit them in accordance with OEM guidelines.

Under my company’s license, I am authorized to size, reroute, and replace power wiring, disconnects, and breakers for dedicated HVAC circuits. Combined with my strong technical background and strict use of proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, this allows me to handle nearly all work that falls within the project scope.

Modern HVAC projects involve far more than just the AC unit and ductwork. My experience covers a wide range of components, from economizers, electric heat kits, in-unit gas furnaces, flood switches, and energy management boards on the equipment side, to fire dampers, VAV boxes, humidifiers, duct-mounted smoke and CO detectors, and annunciators on the ductwork side.

Construction equipment handling

HVAC accessories installation

In the early stages of a project, I have laid out hanger locations and equipment positions to support efficient ductwork installation and avoid conflicts with framing trades. In later phases, I have established the placement of air terminal devices, particularly linear diffusers, using chalk lines, clear spray, and laser tools to ensure precise layout and alignment.

Almost 2 years of intensive RTU change-outs when working for Helios developed on me the confidence it takes to handle this sensible, costly operations. Ready to be certified per project needs.
