The purpose of this section is to make things easier for a potential recruiter, as it provides information related to job interviews.
In my current company, I have worked on projects in different cities such as Tampa, Tallahassee, Venice, and Clearwater, so it could be said that I am comfortable with hotels and long trips, as long as the effort is rightfully rewarded.
Yes i do
Since there is no one at home waiting for me, be it a dependent person or a pet, it could be said that projects with rotating shifts or irregular hours should not be an inconvenience for me, as long as they are notified well in advance to allow me to reschedule my immediate tasks. Same applies for overtime needs.
Yes. I'am a lawful permanent resident, which means that, among other things, I do not require a work permit or have any restrictions in that regard.
Yes i do.
Despite having a B1 certification, I acknowledge that my oral skills are not yet polished. With that being said, if I am required to give a conference on HVAC, I regret not being up to the task. However, in day-to-day work in a professional environment, I have worked closely with English speakers and none have raised any complaints.
From a very early age, I have been a problem solver. I was that child who would disassemble anything just to see how it worked and then try to put it back together. Since that last stage sometimes didn't work, I eventually stopped receiving toys from my parents because they thought I wasn't an engineer but a destroyer. Maybe they were right, but as I grew up, I was refining my skills at the same time, and it was at that moment when I managed to dismantle a PS3 to service it as a teenager and earn some extra money. Since then, I've had the confidence to perform all kinds of manual tasks with preparation and the occasional YouTube videos.
I also consider myself an explorer, unlike those closed-minded people. I've written blog articles and conducted research for journalistic purposes, designed user experiences for mobile applications, edited videos and photos, created project proposals and business plans, and in summary, undertaken many activities that others might consider unattainable without a formal degree. I love challenges that motivate me and make me a better person.
I have an insatiable level of curiosity and tend to conduct extensive research on any topic in which I'm not yet an expert. This approach has allowed me to be flexible in my professional life, taking on new responsibilities successfully thanks to my versatility in learning and refining processes. This also made me gained the trust of those who know me, for instance, i decided to start my inmigration process by my own rather than paying a lawyer. Of course close people to me recomend me not to do it because the high risk, sensitive nature of the process by itself, but nowedays i can say that i feel very good for trust in my capabilities and i also can help people with their process, for free.
So what I bring to the team is a passion for achieving tasks with efficiency and professionalism. I observed this during my Project Management studies, where I realized the significant effort I had invested in personal projects for friends and family, such as birthday parties, gatherings at friends' houses, or vacation planning. I sometimes ended up being scammed because "Hey, it's just a ... stop being so serious." I suppose this leads to my biggest weakness...
I easily become enthusiastic when people present new ideas or projects to me. Sometimes, I become so engrossed in the moment that I end up volunteering for too much and expecting the same level of commitment from my team. This excessive effort to achieve perfection can be risky, potentially leading to improper execution due to scope loss or missing important deadlines.
Fortunately, I've been reflecting on why this occurs and I'm becoming more aware of this pattern. One method I've discovered to control this impulsive enthusiasm is to transfer these ideas onto paper and delve deeply into them. I conduct various assessments, such as SWOT analysis, to thoroughly evaluate the pros and cons. This approach works perfectly for me because I enjoy writing and working with paperwork.
You should consider hiring me if you're looking to make an investment, rather than simply bringing on an employee. I don't see myself as someone who just wakes up in the morning to trade eight hours of their day for money. Instead, I'm eager to join a rapidly expanding, mission-driven organization that fosters continuous learning and professional development. My goal is to advance to a foreman position and eventually become a construction project manager. Therefore, if you only need an extra pair of hands to accomplish tasks, I might not be the right fit.
While I was employed at Gourmet International Foods in Pompano Beach, FL, a situation arose where our Foreman needed to take medical leave during the second week and was unable to return to work. This unfortunate coincidence occurred at a time when our team had a strict one-month deadline to meet. Given my strong familiarity with the ongoing and remaining tasks in the schedule, I perceived the situation as an opportunity. This prompted me to take decisive action, and I approached my superiors, expressing my willingness to lead a team of four as a Lead Installer.
To be honest, the remaining tasks were challenging and stressful, but I managed to oversee the project with only a 3-day delay. This accomplishment is significant, especially when considering the substantial cost savings I generated for the company during the period when I assumed the Foreman’s role.
As someone with strong planing-driven mindset, i like to neutralize risk as much as i can. I identify myself with this phrase atributed to Abraham Lincoln: If given six hours to chop down a tree, I would spend the first four sharpening the axe. This also means i'm a rule follower. It seems to me that rules are made to avoid unwanted situations. Following protocols and documenting also helps to protect you and your company against unwanted situations right?
I also avoid mixing personal and professional life. In my opinion people performing administrative or supervisory roles should be as clear as possible with their subordinates and absolutly not expect favors in return for their action as this is the main reason that open the gate for unethical, favor-driven attitude on a daily basis.
Referring to the Gourmet International Foods project, the half-week delay was influenced by several factors. One of these factors was underestimating the quantity and complexity of the remaining work due to my lack of expertise and eagerness to prove myself. However, the primary reason for the delay was my failure to execute a critical task as the lead installer. This task involved conducting an on-field assessment of the current status of the copper lines to create a comprehensive list of missing fittings and lines. Unfortunately, I delegated a portion of this task to my less-experienced team members and failed to conduct a double-check afterward. As a consequence, I had to reorder the missing components to complete the project.
While I was working as a Sheet Metal Mechanic, I noticed that my company's existing website appeared unprofessional. They were also planning to expand their HVAC services into the residential sector, where having a well-designed website is crucial for visibility. Taking the initiative, I created a functional prototype that encompassed a redesign and introduced several new features to add value, such as Q&A tabs and pre-quote forms.
I informed them through a formal email, outlining the project proposal along with a budget and an approximate timeline for completion. Drawing from my previous experience working with web developers, I was well aware of the scope of such projects. Despite my efforts, they declined my proposal, possibly due to a change in their strategic direction - at least that's how I prefer to interpret it.
Nonetheless, I take great pride in leveraging transferable skills from my past roles. This experience prompted me to enroll in a project management program, as I realized that my true passion lies in leading and creating remarkable projects from the ground up.
I mostly consider myself a homebody. Writing holds significant importance for me, especially as a part of the Hispanic immigrant community. I find great satisfaction in addressing social issues through my work, particularly in crafting articles related to personal development and expressing my political opinions. Additionally, I actively participate in various social media groups where I hold administrator roles. Within these groups, I engage in conversations with fellow entrepreneurs and contribute to discussions about financial matters.
When I began my journey in this field of work as an assistant, it was evident to me that practical experience would come naturally through day-to-day tasks. However, I recognized that if I genuinely aimed to advance as a professional, I needed to pursue an HVAC training program to acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge. As someone with a fixed 8-hour shift, attending a traditional technical school posed challenges. Therefore, I made the decision to educate myself using the online platform SkillCat. Through this platform, I not only mastered the trade by earning certifications in more than six courses but also pursued related subjects such as welding.
Naturally, no one suspected anything unusual, even when I achieved a rapid promotion to the role of Sheet Metal Mechanic in just over a year. The truth only came to light when a welder was required during the final stages of a project, and I volunteered for the task. When asked, "Where did you learn to weld?" I confidently presented my online certificate and extended an invitation for them to give me an opportunity, highlighting my grasp of theoretical and safety aspects. That day marked the revelation of my secret, and as a result, my boss welcomed another skilled welder onto the team.
Every construction worker who has completed the OSHA 10 course understands the contractor's obligation to establish a safe work environment, encompassing essentials like proper-height ladders and access to water. However, these seemingly "minor" aspects often do not receive the priority they deserve when a new project commences. On one occasion, I found myself working under the supervision of a temporary Foreman. My team and I had subtly communicated multiple times that we required access to water.
Realizing the urgency of the situation, I chose to directly address the matter when the topic of water arose once again one morning. I happened to overhear a conversation in which someone mentioned that the boss had advised them not to solely depend on the company for their well-being. The statement suggested that if they were thirsty, they should purchase water, just as one would buy food when hungry. Later that morning, I discovered that my coworker had misquoted those words when the boss offered an apology to me in the office. He candidly explained that he was under significant pressure and had inadvertently overlooked the water issue on multiple occasions.
